Fernando Torres Dealt to Chelsea; Luis Suarez, Andy Carroll to Liverpool
With a new head coach, new strikers and talent still currently on the roster, the Reds look to be headed in the right direction.
Both ESPN and Liverpool’s official web site broke the news on Monday, the final day of the European transfer period.
At only 26 years old, Fernando Torres is entering the prime of his career and will undoubtedly help out a Chelsea club that is sniffing a spot in the top four in the Premier League and has an aging superstar in Didier Drogba.
. Chelsea paid Liverpool nearly £45-M or $72-M for a transfer fee and signed Fernando Torres to a £50-M contract for five-and-a-half years.
Although Torres has been less than impressive ever since the 2010 World Cup, when he was held without a goal throughout the tournament, he is still known as one of the most gifted goal scorers in the world. Injuries, however, have hampered over the last few months and have kept him from playing up to his potential.
Suarez will be looking to fill the void left by Fernando Torres, and while he isn’t the goalscorer that Torres is, Suarez is an aggressive player who seems to have a nose for the ball.
Fernando Torres will be leaving Liverpool and heading to a place where he can win a lot of hardware this season.

Suarez is most notably known throughout the world as the man who committed the hand ball on the goal line in the final minute of extra time in Uruguay’s World Cup quarterfinal match against Ghana, making way for one of the most dramatic endings of the tournament.
Liverpool’s site also broke the news that the Reds had acquired forward Andy Carroll from Newcastle in England and striker Luis Suarez from Ajax in Amsterdam.
Carroll and Suarez are good players, but they will have to step their game up, in order to replace the value of Fernando Torres.
Liverpool doesn’t have much to play for this season, but they are looking to regroup and reload for runs in the future.
